Mindfulness Squares is a project which developed out of a research scholarship I undertook during summer 2012/'13. Through research into the Buddhist concept of mindfulness I began to identify how knitting and crochet held qualities which could induce periods of fixed attention similar to mindfulness meditation. I began knitting 12x12 stitch squares of white yarn as a way of measuring this connection, each square is thus a record of being truly present in each moment.
